The organizing committee of ISIT 2024 is pleased to announce a pilot program that allows participants to organize mini workshops at the Symposium. We anticipate the venue in Athens will be able to accommodate 4-5 workshops, held in parallel with the tutorials on Sunday the 7th of July 2024. One goal of the workshop program is to broaden the participation of researchers in sibling communities for whom participation in the Symposium would provide benefits to both their community and regular attendees of ISIT. To that end, we encourage cross-cutting proposals whose organizing team includes both regular attendees of ISIT and researchers from peer communities and which propose workshop topics that emphasize connections between information theory and other disciplines. While specific details are currently being worked out by the organizing team, and pending some approvals by the IEEE, some pertinent information follows:
-
A template for workshop proposals will be posted on the ISIT’24 website by July 15.
-
The deadline for submission of proposals will be September 15.
-
Details of the submission process will be provided along with the template.
-
Proposers of workshop will be informed of decisions in October, with the aim of providing workshop participants sufficient lead time to prepare papers both for the workshops and regular ISIT submissions.
-
The organizing team is seeking IEEE approval for an “opt-in” option whereby workshop authors can have their “ISIT workshop” papers appear on IEEE Xplore.
-
The organizing team is seeking (pending IEEE approval) to be able to provide some travel funds to subsidize the attendance of some workshop invitees.
The organizing team includes Stark Draper, Henry Pfister, and Osvaldo Simeone. Please direct questions to [email protected]. At this point we ask you to defer specific questions until after submission details are posted on 15 July.
